Dr. Kay Pace

 

Kay Pace is a native of Mobile, Alabama. Professionally she has been a college music professor, music administrator, concert pianist, keyboard accompanist, choral director and church musician.  Known for her versatility, Kay Pace has worked with major artists as diverse as Eileen Farrell, William Dawson, Moses Hogan, and Richard Smallwood.  As solo pianist, she studied with Leon Fleisher and Walter Hautzig at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has won in several national and international competitions.  Dr. Pace has also been recognized for her work as choral director of the MLK Choir at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church during commemorative activities in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Kay Pace is an elected member of Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies.  She maintains memberships in the Georgia Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, American Choral Directors Association and National Education Association.

Teaching and Performing Experiences:

Before coming to CCPS, Kay Pace taught at the following universities: Southern Illinois (Carbondale), Alabama State (Montgomery), Morgan State (Baltimore) and Clark Atlanta. She presently serves as Choral Lead Teacher for MS and HS in CCPS. She also directs choruses at North Clayton High School and the Fine Arts Magnet School and teaches private voice, piano and music theory at the latter. Dr. Pace has had award-winning choruses perform in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater (New York), the International Beethoven Festival (Bonn, Germany) and at Spivey Hall.

 

Short Philosophy Statement:

To have a complete educational experience, every student should have quality instruction in the fine arts, particularly music. Ongoing music study stimulates creativity, improves overall academic achievement, and fosters self-discipline, mental focus and self-esteem in most serious students.
